Im Standing On Him!

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.  2 Corinthians 1:20

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. –Psalms 20:7

What is your trust standing on?

Trust is defined by the Webster's Dictionary as being "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.  Confident expectation of something; hope." What has God promised you that you are still believing Him for?  I want to encourage you today to hold fast (or get a tight grip) and make sure your footing is sure on the word that the Lord has given.  Many times in our lives we will be faced with some faith shaking obstacles.  Often times during these periods the humanistic side of us will try to grasp hold to whatever we believe is stable at that turbulent and unsure moment in time.  Thus, we begin to base our decisions on what we see instead of what we heard from God.  It's in these moments that in alacrity to ascertain some sort of comfort and/or assurance that things will get better, we end up reaching for whatever "looks" secure and like it will bring us to our promised place instead of what is sure.  Friend, this is where many times our journeys become detoured and our quest to reach our destiny is thrown into a loop.  Why you may ask?  It's simply because we based our hopes and trust in everything and everyone other than our God.

As a believer and follower of Christ there will be times when you will hear from God and then it will seem as if He has disappeared from the scene leaving you there to fight and to fend for yourself.  Many of us instead of staying still, listening for the voice and the wind of the Lord for direction and following where He leads—opt to follow what we see.  (Stick with me, I am going somewhere with this!)  Faith, as we know, is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).  Meaning that what I'm believing in and believing for now becomes so real that I can taste it, I can smell it and can trust God that He will do just what he said he would.  Even if I can't see the manifestation or an inkling of light of the promise coming to pass at the present time, that wont detour me from what I heard from the Lord.  Faith says, "right now it looks opposite of everything that God has promised me, but I choose to believe God."  Faith says, "I'm going to wait in expectancy just like a child before Christmas and know that what God promised will come through for me."  You need to call someone and tell them "I'm Expecting!"  (Be sure you clarify that you are expecting from God…SMILE!)

During the dark moments or while in the "meantime" season men and women of great faith pull out "the conversation of a champion" and say I'm going to stand here in the midst of this turmoil and know that what God promised will happen and I will live to see it prosper!  Folk passing me up and looking over me, I'm going to stand on God's word.  The doctor gave me a bad report, I'm still standing on His word.  They laying off and the economy is shot, I'm standing right here on His word and I'm not moving and I'm not wavering because (as the saints used to say back in the day) "God said it!  I believe it!  And that settles it!"  Glory to God!  Watch this, God's word is better than any check or what someone can ever promise you because it can never be returned unto Him void (Isaiah 55:11).  If He said it, its going to prosper and you can bank on that baby.  Whatever He says cannot come back to him unfulfilled by His liability.  We are the only reason why our own individual promises and destinies would never reach their full potential.

Not the naysayers or the haters because you can disregard their lying tongues and foolish ways and add their ridicule as fuel to your inner fire or passion.  Who are they anyway that what they have to say and the little tricks they try to pull would have more weight to them than the promises and the word of the Lord?  As I believe Jesus would say right there—Selah.  Pause and think about it!  Although Philippians 3:3 talks about us who worship God in the spirit putting no confidence in flesh (or people), we place our trust in folks who don't even have a handle on their own lives and destiny, who come in and detour us from our promises.  Crazy right!?!?  Not even realizing that they are saying and doing what they are because they are miserable, unhappy and destitute because they refused to follow the promises of God for their life and got all jacked up, now they want to jack you, your promises and your ambitions up.  No mame!  No sir!  I'm speaking to someone who says like me—no way will I allow someone or something who doesn't even matter neither adds value to me come and cause me to lose focus on God and what He promised.  I have come too far and my future is too great to continuously fall for the trick of the enemy.  I dare someone to decree "you may have gotten me off my square a little while ago but it's a new day!  I'm stronger!  I'm wiser!  And I'm more determined now than ever."  Not even the government or "the man" (lol…who is "the man" anyway…moving on…lol!) can cause the promises of the Lord to be forfeited for your life because I know THE MAN who can never fail!  Not even your pastor, church, friends or family can make you miss it because if you are serious about your destiny you can move and remove yourself from any dead situation that you find yourself in.  Nobody or nothing can keep you away from the promise of God for your life BUT you!

So I ask again, what is your trust standing on?  Is it standing on what that man or that woman whispered in your ear or what God whispers in your ear.  What is your trust founded on or what is the foundation that you are building your hope on?  That dead end job or the God who has given you the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18) and promised that He would supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19)?  What have you solidified your future on?  The doctor's diagnosis or God's word that with is stripes you were already healed (Isaiah 53:5)?  My hope is built in nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness!

Friend, when we refuse to stand and believe in God's word over what we see we deny the power and validity of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.  Furthermore, when you trust God you are also saying that you trust yourself and the decision you made to follow after Christ.  Stand and know that when you place your trust in God (over anything else) you can never go wrong and He will never lead you wrong.  As you go about your week continue to encourage and remind yourself that no matter where I may find myself in life—when I'm focused on the promise and the God of the promise, I'm always right where He wants me to be.  So enjoy the journey.  Trusting in God always pays off!

Much Love,

Clyde L. Webster
